If all the lower teeth are missing, 2 or 4 implants maybe used to support a lower denture. The implants are positioned just below the surface of the gum and allowed to heal. This healing process could take as little as the same day or 2-3 months. Once the implants are uncovered and post are attached, a bar or attachments may be placed to provide support for a new denture. In some cases, your old denture will be modified and used as a temporary or permanent denture. The overdenture is then clipped into place. You now have teeth which are firmly supported by the jawbone.
